Possible signs
Abdominal discomfort, nausea, bloating, fatigue, eruptive xanthomas (small bumps on the skin), or a creamy / milky appearance to the blood vessels in the eye.
When to seek urgent care
Severe persistent abdominal pain, pain radiating to the back, vomiting that won’t stop, or fever, possible signs of acute pancreatitis.
Numbers to know
Normal under 150 mg/dL, borderline 150 to 199, high 200 to 499, severe at or above 500, very severe at or above 1,000.
